The St. Louis Rams are desperate to shore up their quarterback position and multiple reports confirmed that they contacted Brett Favre to gauge his interest in making a comeback.

Adam Schefter of ESPN first reported that the Rams, who are looking for QB help after Sam Bradford sustained a season-ending knee injury, called Favre, who had a fantastic 20-year NFL career.

"St. Louis called Brett Favre, asking if the 44-year-old QB if he would be willing to play. Favre declined. More to story on ESPN all day," Schefter posted on his Twitter account.

But despite the strong interests from the Rams, the future Hall of Famer declined to end his retirement, saying that the game took a physical toll on his body and that he is not interested in making a return.

"It's flattering, but you know there's no way I'm going to do that," Favre said in an interview with Sports Talk 570 as reported by ESPN.

Favre, who had a terrific 16-year stint with the Green Bay Packers before ending his career with the Minnesota Vikings in 2010, reiterated that he has no desire to play football again, pointing out that he is content with a family-centered life.

"My family took a backseat for 20 years," Favre said. "My 14-year-old daughter plays volleyball and is in the ninth grade and will be playing again the next three years. I've taken trips that I never thought I'd take. I've gone to Yellowstone, and I've gone to Glacier National Park. We've gone down to the Bahamas, we've done things that really everybody in my family just kind of waited for."

With Favre declining to make a comeback, the Rams are going with Brady Quinn, who signed a contract after being released by the New York Jets this week. The Rams also signed Austin Davis, who played with the squad in 2012 and in the 2013 preseason.

Quinn and Davis will serve as backup to Kellen Clemens, who is set to make his first start this season on Monday against the Seattle Seahawks.
