Marvel President Kevin Feige has revealed that the "Daredevil" and "Punisher" movies could be on the horizon.
Feige recently revealed his interest in reviving the much maligned characters in future Marvel movies.
"We're trying to figure out what to do with Daredevil now," he said, according to MTV. "Punisher could show up at one point. You know, once we get characters back into the Marvel fold we don't want to do something right away, we want to do the smart thing at the smart time."
Daredevil was adapted into a 2003 film that starred Ben Affleck. The movie grossed $102 million domestically and $179 million worldwide on a reported $78 million budget. The film spawned spin-off films including an "Elektra" movie, but neither was critically acclaimed or loved by audiences. Those films were produced by Fox, which was attempting to revive the franchise before the rights expired. Unfortunately, the company was never able to establish momentum on the project and the rights were returned to Marvel.
"Punisher" has received three big screen adaptations with Dolph Lundgren, Thomas Jane and Ray Stevenson each starring as Frank Castle. However, none of the films ever took off with audiences; the latest adaptation, "Punisher: War Zone," only made $8 million during its theatrical release.
Marvel is currently promoting its upcoming "Avengers Phase 3" film, "Thor: The Dark World," which comes out in November, while "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" is slated for a spring 2014 release. "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" is set for a summer 2015 launch date.
