Lazio and Apollon Limassol will face off in the Europa League on Thursday.

Lazio opened its tournament with a 1-0 win over Legia Warsaw at home. In its second game against Trabzonspor, the team managed to comeback from a 3-1 lead and forced a 3-3 draw. Meanwhile, Apollon lost 2-1 at home against Trabzonspor before pulling off a 1-0 win over Legia Warsaw.

A win for Lazio would keep them in the race for first place depending the result in the match between Warsaw and Trabzonspor. A draw would keep the team in second place at the very least; a loss to Trabzonspor in its game coupled with a tie in this one would keep Lazio atop the group. A loss for Lazio would put Apollon into second or first place. The Cyprus squad cannot afford a loss in this game as it would fall four points behind Lazio and potentially be four behind Trabzonspor if the Turkish side manages a win in its matchup. A draw would keep the team in third or fourth depending on the result of the other match while a loss could potentially push it to last place if Warsaw manages to win and alter the goal differential between the two clubs.

This is the first meeting between the two teams.

Prediction: Lazio knows that only a win is acceptable in this game as it looks to seize control of the group. However, as Legia Warsaw can attest, Apollon will not go down easily and will surely pose a huge test for the Italian contingent. Expect Lazio to struggle on the road and wind up with a 1-1 draw.
