This weekend Ridley Scott's "The Counselor" will be released nationwide.
The film does not have many reviews yet, but many are wondering how the movie will do at the box office given its all-star cast, which includes Michael Fassbender, Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Javier Bardem and Brad Pitt.
The film is currently tracking low and is not likely to land the No. 1 spot. Pundits speculate that the reason for its low tracking has more to do with the lack of reviews and the lack of Oscar buzz.
However, with three days until its release, anything can happen. The all-star cast could help boost the film's box office. This past summer, Pitt scored at the box office with "World War Z," which made $202.3 million.
Fassbender has also headlined several successful films including "X-Men: First Class" ($146.4 million) and "Prometheus" ($126.4 million). Bardem was also part of "Skyfall," which made $304 million.
It is unclear how much the film will make on its opening weekend but pundits are predicting that it can make between $10-20 million this weekend. However, if there is no interest, it could fail like "The Fifth Estate" and "Runner Runner," which were slated for big awards runs but also failed critically.
"The Counselor" tells the story of a lawyer who finds himself in over his head when he gets involved in the drug trafficking business. The film also stars Rosie Perez, John Leguizamo, Natalie Dormer, Bruno Ganz, Goran Visnjic and Dean Morris and is rated R for grisly images, graphic violence, strong sexual content and language.
