On the latest installment of "Grey's Anatomy," Meredith and Derek are back at work while Arizona continues to flirt with new people.
In "I Bet It Stung," Meredith is ready to delve back into work. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) steals a heart/liver surgery from Bailey (Chandra Wilson), who jokingly says that her namesake is "drinking the milk of a liver stealer."
Leah (Tessa Ferrer) is flirting with Arizona (Jessica Capshaw), and Arizona can't remember if they slept together after the fundraising gala. Jackson (Jesse Williams) is planning on introducing Stephanie (Jerrika Hinton) to his mother, who's at the hospital visiting Richard (James Pickens Jr.). Meanwhile, Jo (Camilla Luddington) is working with Alex's (Justin Chambers) estranged, drug addict father, which Alex does not want to talk about. Alex wants to discharge him, but Jo wants to put him in rehab. Alex's dad (James Remar) also doesn't know that Alex is his son.
Meredith then gets a call that Zola fell down on the playground and cut her head open, so Meredith leaves, leaving Bailey to tell Cristina (Sandra Oh) that she'll meet her in the OR. But when their patient goes into heart failure, they have to do emergency surgery, which Meredith misses.
Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Owen (Kevin McKidd) bond over their recent break-ups and deal with a pair of sisters, one is frequently used to give her ailing sister replacement bone marrow and blood.
Meredith comes back to the OR and realizes that she missed the surgery. Cristina tells Mer that she's not as talented or as competent a surgeon as she is now that she's a mom. Meredith is livid. "We're in different places now," Cristina tells her, "and that's okay."
Meanwhile, Arizona finds out that after the gala, Leah found her passed out drunk in the hallway of her apartment, and the two of them spent the night eating grilled cheese and watching Derek's old surgeries. So there was no hook-up.
On the next episode, "Map of You," a character will continue to feel effects from the night of the devastating storm.
The synopsis reads: "Derek and Callie work on a brain mapping project, Richard encourages the interns to use his physical condition as a learning tool and after a discussion with Callie, Meredith considers continuing her mother's research. Meanwhile, Shane continues to feel guilty about Heather's death, on "Grey's Anatomy."
