On last night's installment of "Dancing with the Stars," one couple got the first perfect score of the season and another couple got a pleasant surprise.
Bill Engvall and Emma Slater kick off the night with a tropical tango to Jimmy Buffett's "Cheeseburger in Paradise." The couple does a skit in the beginning in which they are in a tropical paradise, and Bill is served a salad while Emma gets a cheeseburger. The judges like the mixture of humor and sexiness, although Bruno says that the dance had a "few tiny issues," and that they had a hard time keeping up with the tempo. Their final score: 23.
Next, Elizabeth Berkley and Val Chmerkosvskiy referenced Berkley's much-maligned film (which is now loved for its hilarious awfulness) "Showgirls" with a sexy cha-cha. In rehearsals, Elizabeth got teary-eyed when talking about how many doors were slammed in her face after the backlash from the film. After an impressive cha-cha, Bruno yells, "You've still got it big time!" and Carrie compares her to a "white panther." Their dance earns the first perfect score of the season. Final score: 30.
Leah Remini and Tony Dovolani do a quickstep--after some help from Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart in the rehearsal room--which is lauded by the judges as their best performance yet. Carrie Ann calls it "the biggest turnaround I've ever seen." Final score: 27.
Brant Daugherty and Peta Murgatroyd dance a beautiful tango, which is praised by the judges. Len praises them for not incorporating any "gimmicks", and gave out his second 10 of the night. Final score: 28.
Amber Riley and Derek Hough had a rough week, with Amber saying she "hit a wall" and "cried a lot" in the past week. They go on, however, to do a fast-paced samba. Amber does her best Tina Turner impression, and they nail a samba roll. Carrie Ann calls the dance "fierce," although Len calls it "a tad repetitive." Carrie Ann and Bruno disagree, and both give them 10s. Final score: 28.
Jack Osbourne and Cheryl Burke dance an intense, and literally fiery paso doble (there were actual flames on stage). The judges said that he had the intensity, but had a few technical slip-ups that sometimes threw things out of whack. Final score: 25.
Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and Sasha Farber do a slower, more ladylike dance (although Snooki's ideas of "ladylike" women--Anna Nicole Smith and the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills--are questionable). The two do a pleasant foxtrot to "Build Me Up, Buttercup." The judges like the performance overall, although it is not as exciting as her usual fare. Final score: 27.
Corbin Bleu and Karina Smirnoff do a waltz to the intense theme song from "Game of Thrones," which Corbin (a "Thrones" fan) was excited about. The dance even included a makeshift throne. Bruno criticizes Corbin's lines, but Carrie Ann says that the "passion told the story." Final score: 23.
The couples then participate in the "switch-up challenge," in which four couples dance on the floor at the same time to music that periodically changes. They are given points for how long they stay in the contest before being tapped out.
In the first group, Bill and Emma are the first to go. The last ones standing are Corbin and Karina who say their strategy was to "keep shaking everything."
In round two, Leah and Tony are the first to go, while Derek and Amber win out, which ties them with Elizabeth and Val.
Then there's the elimination. The safe couples are Elizabeth and Val, Amber and Derek, Brant and Peta, Leah and Tony, Corbin and Karina and Snooki and Sasha.
That means that Bill and Emma are going home. But the couple gets a pleasant surprise: incorrect phone numbers were shown at the end of the show for some time zones last week, so all viewer votes were thrown out, meaning no one went home.
