The St. Louis Rams reportedly discussed the possibility of signing Tim Tebow after quarterback Sam Bradford sustained an ACL injury that will keep him out for the rest of the NFL season.
NFL Network columnist Michael Silver posted on his Twitter account that a Rams source told him that the team internally discussed the possibility of signing Tebow, but even before creating big headlines, Silver tweeted: "I believe it's unlikely they'll actually sign him."
The Rams are in dire need of a quarterback after the devastating injury sustained by Bradford in their 30-15 loss against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
Kellen Clemens, who replaced Bradford and finished 2-of-4 in passing for 19 yards, is the lone remaining quarterback for the Rams, fueling speculation that the Rams will sign or trade for another quarterback.
The Rams were reportedly engaged in trade talks to acquire Tebow during his time with the Denver Broncos, but the Tebow-to-Rams scenario looks like a long shot as of now - a scenario that was also played down by St. Louis Post-Dispatch writer Jim Thomas.
"Contrary to speculation, Tim Tebow is not coming to St. Louis," Thomas posted on his Twitter account.
Tebow, whose last appearance in a regular-season NFL game was during his stint with the New York Jets, was in the mix for making the final roster of the New England Patriots during the offseason, but was cut by the squad after an unimpressive preseason stint.
According to Mike Freeman in a Bleacher Report post, the 26-year-old quarterback is reportedly vacationing in Hawaii, but is currently in good playing shape and ready in case a team decides to sign him.
"He still truly believes he can play and compete at the NFL level. I talked to him a few weeks ago. He's still in shape. He's ready to go," David Nelson, a close of friend of Tebow, was quoted as saying. "I can't speak for Tim, but I think he's going to keep pushing to get back into the NFL and not go to the CFL or Arena."
