The Miss Universe beauty pageant is only a month away and Latinos Post wants its readers to get to know every competitor. Botswana's 2013 entry is Tsaone Macheng.
Macheng was born in Gaborone and recently won the Miss Universe Botswana title on Sept. 7, 2013. Macheng recently told reporters that her hope was to promote arts and culture because they had a tremendously positive impact on her country's economic growth. Macheng is currently studying fine arts at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in South Africa and her interests include traveling, singing, art and playing the marimba. She also noted that her main goal was to create more awareness about her country.
"I will from now on broaden her knowledge about Botswana so that I will be in a good position to represent the country well," she said according to Miss Universe Pageant.
The Miss Universe's official website states that Tsaone is an avid athlete and played hockey and baseball for three years. She is also interested in collecting handwritten mail. The celebrity she would like to meet is Chaka Khan; Khan is a 10-time Grammy winner who hails from Chicago, Ill.
There seems to be some confusion about Macheng's age. The official Miss Universe page lists her as being 24-years old but a number of other outlets, including Miss Universe Pageant, state that her birth year was 1993 and that she is only 20-years old.
The Miss Universe beauty pageant will be held at Crocus City Hall in Moscow Russia on Nov. 9, 2013. Current title holder Olivia Culpo will crown the victor.
