The government shutdown is over and we are right back in the swing of things. Today marks a new era, and what better way to begin the first chapter than with a steamy bathroom sex scandal?
On Tuesday, New York Post reported that Staten Island Congressman Michael Grimm snuck into the bathroom of an upscale Brooklyn wine bar, The Owl’s Head on 74th Street in Bay Ridge, the weekend before the government shutdown. To make it obvious, Grimm spent a suspected 17 minutes locked inside the confines of the bougie bathroom with his ‘date.’
“I think it was pretty f-ing obvious what was going on in there,” said one source, a Brooklyn Democratic political operative who received a phone call from an eyewitness. “It just so happened a couple people [at the bar] knew exactly who he was and kept an eye on him.”
Grimm quickly denied the accusations.
“This never happened, and I will not dignify this absurd distortion of the facts with a response, except to say that this is nothing more than a typical Democrat-led smear campaign,” Grimm said in an email statement.
“Yes, they were there, they were having a good time,” said a source close to Grimm. “I think he did go in [to the bathroom with her] to check on her. She was upset. But it certainly wasn’t 15 minutes” and they did “absolutely not” have sex.
The fact that Grimm went into the bathroom to check on his upset female friend is enough to raise eyebrows, and to any democrat seated at the bar, it poses the perfect opportunity to strike. There are no further details regarding the validity of either of the two parties’ claims, and unless Grimm’s date comes forward, it’s likely to dwindle away, left for political affiliation-based speculations to pick at.
