Britney's upcoming album has an official title, and it puts a personal spin on the pop diva's anticipated record.
Britney Spears' new album, which includes her newest single, "Work Bitch," is titled "Britney Jean." Jean is Spears' middle name, and she says it gives the album a personal touch, Entertainment Weekly reports.
"It's a personal album, and all my family, they all call me Britney Jean, it's like a term of endearment, and I just wanted to share that with my fans," she told London's Capital FM yesterday.
The album will debut on December 3.
"Britney Jean" will follow 2011's "Femme Fatale." "Work Bitch," a thumping club anthem about the necessity of working hard to achieve a luxurious lifestyle, dropped a few weeks ago, as did the video for the new single. The video typifies Britney's style: it features midriff-baring outfits, speedy choreographed dancing and flashy sets.
Will.i.am is serving as executive producer of the album. Will.i.am said that although "Work Bitch" is classic Britney, it is not a representation of the album in its entirety.
"That song is a reflection of Britney moreso than the album," Will told Billboard. "The album is what the album is, but we felt that song needed to come out to keep the foundation on what Britney represents. But it shouldn't reflect the album-an album is a body of work as a collective. If we had to pick a song like, 'Oh, what song fits every color of the record,' you shouldn't do that... We felt that song represents 'Piece of Me,' that Britney oomph."
In addition to her new album, Britney will follow in the footsteps of music legends Cher and Celine Dion with a residency in Las Vegas. Her Vegas show, titled "Britney: Piece of Me," will begin on December 27 at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino and will run for two years, according to Starpulse.
She will perform four of the shows before the end of 2013, including a performance on New Year's Eve. She will have a brief hiatus after her New Year's show, and will being performing again on Jan. 29. Sixteen dates have been announced for her concerts so far. She will perform over 50 shows throughout the two years, with shows on alternating Tuesdays and Wednesdays and on Fridays and Saturdays.
Britney said on Good Morning America that the show will include a mix her old and new hits, and will have an atmosphere that is part dance club, part theater.
"We wanted the environment to be that way so people could come and have a good time and stand up and feel like they're in the show with me," Spears said, according to USA Today. "I love Vegas. The energy here is really, really good."
Tickets for her Vegas show are currently on sale.
