As if "Pokémon X and Y" didn't make history already by being the first Pokémon games to launch simultaneously worldwide, the sixth-generation video games have smashed sales records.

According to Nintendo, the first Pokémon games for the Nintendo 3DS have set a franchise record across The America, Europe, and Japan.

In a statement set forth by Nintendo, four million units of "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y were sold during its first two-day weekend.

The latest Pokémon video games launched on Oct. 12.

"The early response to Pokémon X and Pokémon Y not only reaffirms the ongoing passion of Pokémon fans, but also indicates that an entirely new generation of gamers is eager to experience the franchise for itself," said Nintendo President Satoru Iwata.

While it may be difficult to compared the first-weekend sales of "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y," since previous games never launched at the same time at the three aforementioned locations, it does automatically make it the fastest-selling Nintendo 3DS game of all time and at a faster rate than "Pokémon Black 2 Version" and "Pokémon White 2 Version" by more than 70 percent.

Nintendo did not break down the sales figures for respective "Pokémon X" and "Pokémon Y" games or how the games fared on the new Nintendo 2DS handset console.

As of March 31, 2013, internal sales figures of all Pokémon games have reached over 245 million units.
