Will Sir Alex Ferguson be the next coach of Australia's national team?
Reports indicate that the Manchester United legend could be the man to get the Socceroos back on track.
"We've been throwing around a lot of names but there's one person that I haven't heard mentioned -- even though I've more reason than anyone not to suggest him," said former United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich according to ESPNFC. "I'm just being honest and have had experience under him, so know what he's like - it is Sir Alex Ferguson.
"That name hasn't been put about, but we need someone of that ilk. He [Ferguson] would command a top whack, but in life, and especially in sport, you get what you pay for. If you want the very best, you're going to have to pay for the best."
Ferguson won everything Manchester United during his tenure. He guided the club to 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cup wins and two UEFA Champions League victories.
Australia is currently in a bit of a mess after qualifying for the World Cup last June. Since clinching a spot in Brazil, the team has played six matches and has only won one. In fact, the victory took place on Tuesday when Australia took down Canada 3-0. However, the other five games included a draw and four losses, or increasingly embarrassing order. The team endured 6-0 defeats against France and Brazil in its most recent losses; these defeats got coach Holger Osiek fired this past Friday. The team also lost to China PR back in July; China was never close to qualifying for the World Cup.
