Ecuador and Chile will battle in the World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday.

This match is crucial for both teams as they look to avoid falling to a fifth place playoff spot and having to travel to Jordan for one of two legs in a playoff next month.

Chile will be under tremendous pressure to perform after letting the automatic berth slip out of its hands against Colombia on Friday. Chile headed into Cartagena having to win in hostile environment for visiting teams. However, the Chileans looked to be the more confident side and managed to get three goals inside of 30 minutes thanks to the efforts of Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez. Despite Chile's early advantage, the team imploded in the second half after getting a red card and wound up giving up two penalties to Colombia as the Cafeteros made a three-goal comeback and drew 3-3. With the victory, Chile would have earned the 27 points it needed for qualification. As it stands, a draw with Ecuador could suffice.

Ecuador controls its own destiny as it holds a comfortable three-point lead on Uruguay heading into Tuesday's game. The win on Friday means that Ecuador only needs to play for a draw to qualify and avoid the playoff.

Chile will look to avoid the same result it incurred when it visited Ecuador last October. Back then, Ecuador exploded for a 3-1 win.

Prediction: The two sides know that only a draw is necessary and will play a relaxed game for 90 minutes. Expect a 0-0 draw.

Start Time: Kick-off starts at 7:30 p.m. EST
