Austria will finish out its World Cup qualifying campaign on Tuesday when it takes on the Faroe Islands.
Austria blew a chance to qualify for the World Cup on Friday when it faced Sweden in a decisive meeting. A win from Austria would have put them level with Sweden for the second spot in the group. Sweden takes on Germany on Tuesday and had Austria won the game, it would have been the favorite to finish second. Austria had won the first match against Sweden and looked to repeat the feat on Friday. Martin Harnik scored at the 29th minute to give Austria the lead, but Sweden's Martin Olsson tied the score in the 56th minute. Had the result stood as a 1-1 draw, Austria would have had a chance to clinch on Tuesday with a win over the Faroe Islands and a Swedish loss against Germany. However, Swedish captain Zlatan Ibrahimovic would not let his team settle for a tie and scored the winner in the 86th minute.
Austria enters the final game with a respectable record of four wins, two draws, and three losses. The Austrians have scored 17 goals and conceded 10 times.
The same cannot be said for the Faroe Islands as they currently sit in last place in Group C with only one point. The team managed a 1-1 draw with Kazakhstan but has lost its other eight matches.
Prediction: Austria wins 4-0.
Start Time: Kick-off starts at 2:45 p.m. EST
