The Cowboys (2-3) will look to rebound from last week's heartbreaking loss to the Denver Broncos, headlining Sunday Night Football against their longtime rival Washington Redskins (1-3).
Tony Romo came close to ending the Broncos four-game win streak, going 25-of-36 for a franchise-record 506 yards and career high-tying five touchdowns last Sunday, but threw a pick with under two minutes left, allowing Peyton Manning to put the Broncos in position for the game-winning field goal.
"Romo played the best game that I've ever seen him play in his career, not only from the standpoint of how he executed, not only how he created plays, but his leadership," owner Jerry Jones told the team's official website. "If we can have that type of play from him and others, especially on the offensive side of the ball, I think we'll win most of our football games left."
Washington ended their three-game lose streak last week at the expense of the Oakland Raiders with Robert Griffin III throwing for 227 yards completing 18 of his 31 pass attempts, and tossing a touchdown. Alfred Morris ran for 71 yards on 16 carries to help with the offensive load.
Washington is 0-3 against NFC teams and 0-1 in division play but remain one-half game behind Dallas and the Philadelphia Eagles, with a chance to turn their season around Sunday night.
"The start of the season didn't go the way we wanted to, but we got the win before the bye, and that's what we've got to keep doing," said Griffin. "We know we can still go out and win this division. We've got to take it one week at a time, and it starts with the Cowboys."
You can catch the Washington Redskins - Dallas Cowboys Sunday Night Football broadcast 8:30 p.m. Sunday night on NBC.
In other Week 6 late afternoon action:
Jacksonville Jaguars (0-5) at Denver Broncos (5-0)
The Jaguars and Broncos are two teams headed in completely opposite directions. The Broncos - whose frenetic offense is first in the league in scoring offense averaging 46 points per game, including putting up 51 points in Dallas last week - are 28-point favorite over the Jaguars, who have only scored 51 points in five weeks. The Broncos have won 16 consecutive regular-season games, dating back to last year, while the Jaguars have lost 10 straight, including 19 out of their last 21 games over two seasons.
The Jaguars will start Chad Henne under center this week after starter Blaine Gabbert suffered a hamstring injury in their loss to the St. Louis Rams last week. Henne is making his third start this season, completing 53-of-95 passes for 601 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Tennessee Titans (3-2) at Seattle Seahawks (4-1)
The Seahawks lost their first game of the year last week to the Indianapolis Colts despite QB Russell Wilson throwing for 210 yards and two touchdowns, as well as rushing for 102 yards. RB Marshawn Lynch also rushed for 102 but K Steven Hauschka, who kicked four field goals in the game, had a field goal attempt blocked and returned for a touchdown by the Colts Delano Howell.
Titans QB Ryan Fitzpatrick made his debut last week, stepping in for injured starter Jake Locker, completing 21-of-41 passes for 247 yards and a touchdown, as well as scoring off a nine-yard scramble to get into the end zone. RB Chris Johnson must step up, with the running game averaging 3.7 yards a carry, if the Titans hope to win their road game in one of the league's most hostile environments.
TV: 4:05 p.m. on CBS
Arizona Cardinals (3-2) at San Francisco 49ers (3-2)
Both teams are looking for their third straight win as both division rivals try to keep pace with the undefeated NFC West-leading Seattle Seahawks. The Cardinals defense has been impressive, holding the Carolina Panthers to six points last week, forcing four turnovers, tallying seven sacks and a safety. LB Daryl Washington, back from a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, notched nine tackles, two sacks and an interception while LB Karlos Dansby earned eight tackles, two sacks and a pick.
The 49ers Colin Kaepernick leaned on his running game last week, completing 6-of-15 passes for 113 yards, including a 64-yard touchdown pass to TE Vernon Davis in the fourth quarter, with RB Frank Gore finishing the day with 81 yards on 17 carries to defeat the Houston Texans in Week 5.
TV: 4:25 p.m. on Fox
New Orleans Saints (5-0) at New England Patriots (4-1)
The Patriots are coming off their first loss of the season, going down to the Cincinnati Bengals, who held the offense to 1-for12 on third down attempts, sacking QB Tom Brady four times, and intercepting him once in the game. RB Stevan Ridley and WR Danny Amendola are expected to play but TE Rob Gronkowski, who the Patriots hope would be able to suit up, is expected to sit out as he continues to rehab from various surgeries.
The Saints started the season 5-0 for the second time in four years with head coach Sean Payton back on the sidelines after serving his suspension for "Bountygate." New Orleans defeated the Chicago Bears last week to stay perfect, with QB Drew Brees going for 288 and two touchdowns, and TE Jimmy Graham catching 10 passes for 135 yards.
