On the lastest episode of "New Girl," Schmidt tried, and ultimately failed, to break up Nick and Jess' relationship.
In the episode "The Captain," Schmidt (Max Greenfield), tries to break up Nick (Jake Johnson) and Jess' (Zooey Deschanel) relationship by talking to Nick about the relationship getting more serious in an attempt to freak Nick out. It does start to freak him out, causing him to have problems in the bedroom. Nick isn't able to get out of his funk, so Schmidt tells Jess that Nick is into something called "The Captain"-- and we don't know what that is because the blender conveniently goes off when he tells her about it. Although we never actually see what it is, Jess tries it, and by the look on Nick's face, he does not enjoy it.
Nick flips out at Jess for telling Schmidt about the private details of their sex life, and they then proceed to both yell at Schmidt. Once things calm down, Nick pours out some deep, disturbing secrets about why he sometimes has trouble in the bedroom. Sharing his issues out loud frees him of his inhibitions and helps him come out of his shell. Because Schmidt's breakup plan didn't work, he eats Jess' birth control pills in an act of defiance. Meanwhile, Winston (Lamorne Morris) tries to get his cat a mate prior to having to neuter him.
The next episode of "New Girl" will be called "The Box." In the episode, Nick gets a surprise from his father that might cause problems for Nick and Jess.
The synopsis for the episode reads: "IT'S MO' MONEY, MO' PROBLEMS FOR NICK ON AN ALL-NEW 'NEW GIRL.'"
Jon Lovitz ("Saturday Night Live") and Derek Waters ("Drunk History") will also guest-star in the episode.
In the episode, Nick inherits money from his late father, and Jess is determined to use the money wisely and tackle Nick's box of unwanted responsibilities (read: bills). Meanwhile, Schmidt will try to input some meaning in his life, and asks for guidance from Rabbi Feiglin (guest star Jon Lovitz).
TVLine also reports that there is a very good chance that fans will get to meet Schmidt's mother and father this season. Also, viewers will also get to see Schmidt during his heavier days in the Halloween episode, which features Schmidt having to deal with his issues due to Cece's (Hannah Simone) cheating ways.
"Because Jess is best friends with Cece, they're going to obviously spend holidays together, so Schmidt finds himself in a situation where it's like, 'I guess you're going to have a party at the house and Cece is going to be there, and I'm not supposed to be there? I really don't understand how that's supposed to work,'" Max Greenfield told TVGuide. "So we find ourselves in a bind. It takes a real turn."
Greenfield also said that Michael Keaton will be involved in some way, although he will not actually appear in the episode.
