Despite "Revolution's" earlier time slot, the show continued to get darker, with more sinister characters and violent action.

The latest episode, "Love Story," picked up with Miles (Billy Burke) being brought into the room with the red door by his sinister captors. We now know that the red door houses Titus Andover's (Matt Ross) wife, Jessica (Deborah Puette), who is dying from kidney failure. Miles was going to be used as a blood donor for Jessica, which would have killed him.

Yet, Miles-- and Jessica, upon Miles' insistence--is rescued by Rachel (Elizabeth Mitchell) and Gene (Stephen Collins), who are able to break into the clan's hideout. However, Jessica ends up killing herself out of desperation. Titus' entire group then descends upon Willoughby, which ends with Rachel being shot with an arrow and supremely creepy Titus getting killed by the U.S. Army, who come to rescue the town.

In Savannah, Neville (Giancarlo Esposito) and Jason (JD Pardo) are trying to exact their own revenge because he believes Monroe (David Lyons) released the missiles that killed his family. Neville and Jason are also dealing with the nefarious Patriots, yet they end up getting caught in their lies. Although the Patriots came to the town's aid, it is apparent they have an ulterior motive.

Meanwhile, Charlie (Tracy Spiridakos) is with a bounty hunter who's out to kill Monroe. Monroe ends up knocking out the bounty hunter in the face with a gun, and says he wants to team up with Charlie to tell Miles and Rachel that the government has a bounty on their heads.

On the next episode, "The Truth Will Come to Light," relationships will evolve and Neville will continue scheming against the enemy.

The synopsis reads: "Neville infiltrates the Patriots as they infiltrate Willoughby; Rachel fights for her life; Aaron's crazy visions return."

In the upcoming episode, Monroe and Charlie's dynamic will begin to evolve as Neville tries to manipulate the Patriot power brokers. Rachel and Miles will also begin planning a resistance to what they believe might be a Patriot occupation.

As for future episodes, showrunner Eric Kripke told TVLine that the dead rats and the mysterious fireflies have something to do with the nanotech. "It's all part of the mystery of what happened with the nanotech, what happened in the tower and 'How did our heroes in effect change the laws of physics?' Fireflies are a part of it, rats are a part of it, and the vision that Aaron saw of Ben is a part of it," Kripke revealed.

Giancarlo Esposito also told TVLine that the fractured gang will reunite at one point this season, and it may be sooner than you think. "When the enemy grows large enough, these groups will come together - and that's soon," Esposito hinted. "The realization of what has happened to our world that we once called America is going to be mind-blowing for many people, the notion that it may have all been calculated. So I have a feeling we're all going to have to come together against a common enemy."
