Lindsey Vonn and Tiger Woods are a match made in sports heaven. Since going public with their relationship back in March, the couple has been beaming in bliss, expressing their love for one another in interviews and sharing a number of cute pictures.
Earlier this week, Vonn revealed that another key element that helps them keep their romance alive is the mutual understanding and respect they have for one another as professional athletes. The Olympic skiing gold medalist opened up about her relationship with Woods on Sunday while addressing a large group of youth ski racers at Mt. Brighton in Michigan. After meeting with 50 young skiers from Mt. Brighton's Team XLR8, the 28-year-old skiing champ fielded questions from the press. That's when the subject of Tiger Woods came up, and Vonn revealed that her relationship with the world renown golfer has taught her how to cope with pressure.
"He understands pressure and he understands, obviously, competing at an extremely high level," Vonn said, according to the Detroit Free Press. "It's difficult for me going into big events like the Olympics because there's so much more pressure and media attention, and he gets that every single day. So it's nice to be able to talk to him about it and we can relate to each other's lives so well. So I think that's one of the reasons why we work."
Woods' tactics for dealing with pressure may come in handy for Vonn who recently recovered from a knee injury and surgery and is gearing up for the 2014 Winter Olympics. Last February, she suffered from a brutal crash on the opening day of the Alpine Ski World Championships in Austria, the Associate Press reported. Since then, the reigning Olympic Downhill gold medalist revealed that her rehabilitation has been strong, and that she plans to compete in the giant slalom at the Olympics.
