Even the most arrogant can show glimmers of reason and forgiveness. The ongoing feud between the outlandish Kanye West and late night television host Jimmy Kimmel has left curious fans at bay. West is a loose cannon. He’s unpredictable. We’ve seen him snap before at paparazzi, so what’s holding him back from running up on poor helpless Kimmel?
Well worry no more. Last night, the prolific rap star sat down with Kimmel on his show, “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” where West buried the hatchet during an episode long conversation. Fans were hoping that the two could hash out their issues, but they got a whole lot more. Towards the end, Kimmel took a backseat and let West take the floor with one of his long, self proclaiming monologues, where he talked about creativity (he called himself a “creative genius”), the symbiotic relationship between celebrity and paparazzi, his career, Steve Jobs, and of course Jesus, with whom he sometimes feels at par.
But first, Kimmel has to clear the air. “I don’t know if you know this, but a lot of people think you’re a jerk,” Kimmel said. From there, however, it was all smooth sailing. Kanye claimed he lashed out at Kimmel to voice his frustrations about tabloid culture and said he enjoyed writing the twitter rant. It’s a form of expression that celebrities are not supposed to practice.
The whole feud began when Kimmel orchestrated a skit where a child actor imitated West’s interview with Zane Lowe, to which the rapper responded, "JIMMY KIMMEL IS OUT OF LINE TO TRY AND SPOOF IN ANY WAY THE FIRST PIECE OF HONEST MEDIA IN YEARS" and "JIMMY KIMMEL PUT YOURSELF IN MY SHOES … OH NO THAT MEANS YOU WOULD HAVE GOTTEN TOO MUCH GOOD P**** IN YOUR LIFE"
There was also plenty of humor to keep things light and friendly. Kimmel gave West a pair of leather jogging pants for his infant, North, and Josh Groban sang a handful of Kanye tweets.
Check out the interview below and be glad that the two stars can share the limelight in harmony once again.
