She’s gone, folks. It’s time to move on. One of television’s most beloved detectives, agent Ziva, has left “NCIS” for good. Remember that there’s always a silver lining. Although Ziva’s departure leaves a dark hole in the pit of our hearts, it opens the door for new arrivals. Now before you say, “No one could ever replace Cote de Pablo,” remember that whoever replaces her character will take some time to calibrate. At first, it’s going to feel wrong and dirty, but after several episodes he or she will show their true colors and hopefully “NCIS” will realign.
As we look ahead toward possible replacements, TV Guide informs fans that there will be a revolving door situation that will introduce a slew of new agents, however, fans won’t catch their first glimpse of a permanent new team member until November. But nothing is set in stone. When Emily Wickersham’s NSA Analyst Ellie Bishop debuts at the department headquarters, she’ll make a strong first impression during the team’s search for terrorist Benham Parsa.
“He is a new face that we haven’t seen before and has a new approach to things,” said executive producer Gary Glasberg of the new villain. “Bishop will actually have a strong view and position on [Parsa]. She’ll be bringing something extra to the table.”
Unfortunately, Glasberg affirms that her lingering presence will certainly be felt. No goodbye is easy. “It’s a big part of quite a few episodes. You’ll see glances and references to the empty desk, but at the same time we try to get back to the fun and the humor and the lightness and the banter of the squad room — all the things that people like about our show. But we’re not hiding from it, it’s acknowledged.”
“NCIS” airs Tuesday nights on CBS.
