If you're one of the millions of parents that bought a Bumbo Baby Seat for your baby, then be warned: the company has issued a national recall after learning of incidents in which babies have fractured their skulls.
The recall will affect more than four million seats sold at retailers like Toys "R" Us, Babies "R" Us, Sears, Wal-Mart, and Target and was issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

"The restraint belt will help prevent children from getting out of or falling from the seat when it is used as intended: on the floor with adult supervision and never on raised surfaces," said a statement from Bumbo. "The health and safety of children using the Bumbo Baby Seat are our top priorities."
Out of 84 reports involving possible harm to babies, 21 involved infant skull fractures.
South African company Bumbo International issued a recall in October 2007 for over a million units to add a warning label warning parents not to use place the floor seats on raised surfaces. Even after that, 50 more incidents were reported that involved babies falling out of Bumbo seats when on a raised surface. An additional 34 incidents involved babies falling out of the seats when on the floor or another elevation.
The Bumbo seats are made from foam, come in a variety of colors, and have a back rest and grooves for the baby's legs. They are a "specially designed seat for your children to make them sit on their own without any assistance," according to the Wal-Mart website.
