The main character of "Girl Meets World" is now an only a big sister. The lead character, named Riley, was slated to have on older teenage brother played by Teo Halm. However, it has been announced that Halm will not appear as Riley's older bother on the Disney channel spinoff of "Boy Meets World," The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

Halm tweeted the news about his character getting the axe. "So guys, Disney decided that it wouldn't work to have an older brother on the show; I won't be on Girl Meets World. Thank you to everyone."

Danielle Fishel, who is reprising her role as Topanga on the series, wrote back less than 20 minutes after his tweet. She wrote, "Teo, you are an incredible talent and I adore you. You may still call me 'mom.' "

A spokesperson for Disney Channel told THR, "various creative changes are often made as a project transitions from pilot to series."

Disney greenlighted an order for "Girl Meets World" this June. The series focuses on Riley Matthews, the daughter of "Boy Meets World's" central couple, Cory and Topanga Matthews. Ben Savage is reprising his role of Cory along with Fishel's Topanaga.

The original "Boy Meets World" series ran on ABC from 1993-2000. Savage and Fishel are reuniting with "Boy Meets World" creator/executive producer Michael Jacobs. William Daniels will also appear in the first episode to reprise his role as the iconic Mr. Feeny.

Rowan Blanchard will star as Cory and Topanga's daughter, Riley, and Sabrina Carpenter will play Riley's best friend, Maya. Riley will also have a younger brother, Louis, played by August Maturo, TVLine reports.

"Girl Meets World" will take place in New York instead of the original series' setting of Philadelphia. "Girl Meets World" will focus on seventh grader Riley and best friend Maya as they navigate through the awkwardness of middle school. Her father, Cory, works as a history teacher at the school, and Topanga owns an after-school hangout known for delicious pudding.

"I am grateful to everyone at Disney Channel for the opportunity to reach my favorite audience, which has always been kids," Michael Jacobs said. "'Girl Meets World' is a new show for a new generation that will be rooted in the same kind of honest, comedic storytelling about coming of age and the importance of family and friendship that made 'Boy Meets World' so popular."

"The stories we intend on doing are stories about a real girl who is coming of age," he continued. "The beauty of this show is the girl will have two parents whom the world has already watched come of age and their natural confusion in the next step of Cory and Topanga's own evolution: being parents. I'm looking at what the condition of the world is right now for kids who are growing up, and if we can offer the same sort of guidance and entertainment that "Boy Meets World" offered, then the show is a good thing to do right now."

"Girl Meets World" will premiere on the Disney Channel in 2014.
