"ER" alum Sherry Stringfield will join the cast of long-running procedural drama "CSI."

TVLine confirms that the former "ER" doctor will have a guest role on the show as Dawn, an affable, blue-collar swing shift CSI. Dawn will join Morgan (Elisabeth Harnois) in investigating a serial rapist case. Aside from work, Dawn will also try to manage her son's addiction problem.

Stringfield's episode will air later this fall.

This week's episode, titled "Take the Money and Run," focused on multiple murders and a million dollar heist during a high stakes poker game.

Nick (George Eads) and Sara (Jorja Fox) investigate the crime scene after the murders. They find that the motorcyclist who stole the money--who the police shot--had counterfeit money.

Morgan and Greg (Eric Szmanda) find out that $1.5 million was stolen. They then discover that a man collided with the biker, meaning that the money was probably transferred.

In the morgue, they investigate the body of the biker, Clint Tyree. The body is swollen to an extreme size. A small wound is found, as well as hole in his jacket, which indicates that he was injected with a deadly substance. They also find a mysterious orange substance on the jacket.

The team figures out from video footage there there were two burglars, and that Tyree was set up and poisoned from snake venom. They track down the person who owns the type of snake that killed Tyree, but that person is found dead in a car, accompanied by his snake and an empty syringe. When testing the deceased man's shirt in the lab, they find that pumice was found on the shirt, which is used in mechanic's soap.

They track down the soap to a mechanic, Ryan, and bring him in for questioning. Later, when searching Ryan's house, they find hospital bills and news that his wife recently died. They then find out that his son was kidnapped.

Outside of his house, they find footprints and a coin that's from Afghanistan. Greg points out that a security guard that was killed in the heist was recently in Afghanistan. They discover that the coin was, in fact, the body guard's. They find the guard's car, and there was evidence that a baby was recently in it.

Back at Ryan's house, they find a message on his computer saying that he can pick up his son at a parking garage; Nick believes that Ryan will be killed. They go to the parking garage, where they find Ryan covered in blood. Ryan said he was being attacked, so he shot his assailant, who was the dealer from the casino. They find the dealer's car, where they find Ryan's son inside.

Sara find orange markings on the baby's clothes, which looks like the same orange that came off the biker's leather jacket. Henry (Jon Wellner) said that the orange sweat may be due to drugs. Then Sara remembers that Ryan said the family was taking antibiotics to protect against meningitis. Sara visits Ryan at the hospital, and asks him how the kidnappers would have known to give the baby his medication.

This leads the team to point to one person as the culprit: Ryan. They test Ryan's sweat with the orange sweat found on the leather jacket, and it's a 100 percent match. It is official--he was the one who robbed the casino and killed four people. He confesses that he did it to pay for his dead wife's medical bills and help his son. The pilfered money is later found in a maintenance locker at the casino.

"CSI" airs on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on CBS.
