Venezuelan actress Gaby Espino is currently starring in the hit show "Santa Diabla."

The actress, born in Caracas, Venezuela, was born to a chemical engineer and publicist. As a child Espino dreamed of being a veterinarian because she was fascinated by animals. Later she decided to study Odontology but switched mid-way to public relations. However, she eventually decided to become an actress.

Her first role in a soap opera was in 1997 when she appeared in the Venevision production "A Todo Corazon." In 1999 and 2000, Espino obtained two supporting roles in "Enamorada" and "Amantes de Luna Llena."

Her first big lead came in 2001 when she starred in the hit series "Guerra de Mujeres" with Jorge Reyes. The following two years she did the series "Las Gonzalez" and "Rebeca" for Venevision.

In 2004, Espino did her first soap opera for Caracol in Colombia entitled "Luna de Heredera." That series saw her act alongside Peruvian actor Christian Meier.

In 2005, she did her last series for Venevision, "Se Solicita Principe Azul," which starred Rafael Novoa. That year, she also made her film debut in "La Mujer de Mi Hermano," which starred Barbara Mori, Manolo Cardona and Meier. The film was released by Lionsgate and made $2 million at the Box office.

In 2006, she returned to soap opera with "Mundo de Fieras" for Televisa. She starred alongside Cesar Evora, Edith Gonzalez, Sebastian Rulli and Laura Flore. It would be her only series for Televisa as she moved to Telemundo.

Her first Telemundo telenovela was "Sin Verguenza," which was a "Sex in the City" meets "Desperate Housewives" series. However, it was met with disappointing ratings and was moved from primetime to daytime. Following that series disaster Espino was offered a small supporting role in "El Rostro de Analia."

Her big comeback came in 2009-10 when she made "Mas Sabe el Diablo," which was a remake of "Porque Diablos." The series starred her current husband, Jencarlos Canela, and Miguel Varroni.

Following her successful comeback, she made "Ojo por Ojo" with Varoni and Carmen Villalobos. In 2012, she took time off from acting to raise her newborn baby. She later returned to host the first annual "Premio Tu Mundo" as well as the second installment in 2013.

Currently, the actress stars in "Santa Diabla," which has obtained a huge US audience and is expanding internationally. The telenovela recently aired in Panama and Puerto Rico.
