Tomorrow is the day. Although the United States’ government may be shutdown, its television depiction will carry on as planned, rolling out new scandals and controversial issues that make the shutdown look elementary. So while those on furlough enjoy their ‘break,’ take sometime out to watch “Scandal” Season 3 premiere tomorrow night for your dose of government debauchery.

Although ABC has remained tight lipped on details surrounding the new season, a new sneak peek features alluring scenes from the premiere episode. Season 2 left off with the press bombarding Olivia Pope after her affair with the president had gone public. Olivia rushed to the safety of a nearby car where she unknowingly ran into her father, aka Rowan. In the promo video, Olivia turns down her Dad’s plan to fix her mess, providing fans with brief insight into their family history. Check out the video below.

But wait, there’s more. A separate clip shows Cyrus tempting his husband James to give up information on who leaked Olivia’s name to the press in return for “scoop.” And speaking of Cyrus and James, fans may recall that Cyrus hired Charlie to kill Amanda Tanner back in the first season, and now it’s time to close the door on what should have been a much more pressing issue. If it does resurface, however, don’t expect James to run from his husband.

“There’s a lot about what my husband is capable of that I don’t know,” Dan Bucatinsky told TVLine. “But I feel like on some level James knew exactly what he was getting in to — maybe not to that extent, but I think there’s a lot more to James than meets the eye in terms of raw ambition, not just to be a parent, but to succeed in Washington.”

A third and final video then features Olivia as she plots with the president on how to deal with their scandal, but in order to get some alone time with the boss, she takes drastic measures that may cause more problems than they’re worth.

“Scandal” returns to ABC this Thursday, October 3.
