All is right in the universe. Beckett and Castle are engaged. While many fans may have expected as so, good for you. For those left in agonizing anxiety after last season’s finale, it’s time to celebrate. Break out the champagne and drink away all the pain and suffering that cast a dark tone over your summer. All is right.

Although Beckett’s job opportunity in D.C. presents potential problems in their relationship, Castle assures his new fiance that he is not proposing because of the job, but that he truly loves her and can’t imagine life without her. So from here on out it’s smooth sailing, right?

Come on. You know better than that. It’s television, so of course things are never going to be ‘all right in the universe.’ The primary kink in Castle and Beckett’s relationship is now her new D.C. partner, who believes Castle to be a distraction in Kate’s blossoming relationship. However, no matter how sour things may be on screen, Laura Edelstein, who plays D.C. agent Rachel McCord, tells fans that behind the camera the trio got along swimmingly.

“[Stana Katic] is great. I really didn’t want to do an arc on a show without really investing as much as I could in it, or else it’s not worth it,” Edelstein during an interview with TVLine. “You know what I mean? So I walked onto that show with a lot of ideas, really wanting to create a real character and a real world, and Stana was psyched, which was just great.”

“I really enjoyed working with her,” she added. “Look, I was on her show, so it could go many different directions when you’re that particular. Especially since it was the first episode back and the whole crew was starting anew, and there I was jumping in side-by-side with her. I was really happy she was so gracious.”

Although McCord seemed to have it out for Castle, now that he lies on death’s doorstep, Edelstein says things may change. “Yeah, looming death, impending doom, it sort of changes the dynamic of things, and I think McCord allows for some leeway in terms of Castle’s participation [in the Valkyrie investigation]. Because how could you really say no to someone trying to stop themselves from dying?”

“Castle” airs Monday nights on ABC at 10 p.m.
