Arsenal will look to stay atop the Premier League table when it takes on Swansea City on Saturday.
Few expected Arsene Wenger's club to be the top team in the league this early on; in fact few expected the team to ever be in that position. Wenger seemingly was not among the few that expected his team to succeed the way it has.
"I didn't expect it to happen as quickly," said Wenger, according to ESPN. "The season is long and everybody at some stage or another had a bad result and that allowed us to bounce back.
"The group has shown a mentally positive response, which is expected, but I thought that some teams could have a perfect start. I think five or six teams can challenge [for the title]. The top four of last year, Liverpool and Tottenham, all these teams. It looks like more of an open title race this time. Of course, you want to be [top of the table], but it is a very early stage. There is a compact group of teams, but we want to stay there."
Arsenal currently has 12 points and is facing a squad that only has seven. However, Saturday is a major match for Arsenal as it is feasible that the club could have sole control of the top spot. Arsenal is tied with Tottenham Hotspur and leads Chelsea and Manchester City by two points. Tottenham and Chelsea face off Saturday and could potentially draw; if this scenario played out and Arsenal won, then the Gunners would have first place all to themselves.
Prediction: Arsenal wins 1-0.
