Fernando Torres has hinted that he may get more playing time with his current club Chelsea.

The Spanish forward has always been a target of criticism due to his inconsistent play since joining the Blues. Torres, like fellow countrymen Cesar Azpilicueta and Juan Mata, have spent most of the 2013-14 season on the bench under new coach Jose Mourinho; they were regular starters under Rafa Martinez a year ago.

Torres has played in just five games this season, four of them in the Premier League and one in the Capital One Cup; in the latest 2-0 win against Swindon, Torres scored the opener and added an assist for the second.

"Hopefully I will have more opportunities to play in the Premier League," Torres said, according to ESPN. "The season is long and we have time to play important games. We will all be involved. We are in the manager's plans. We have 25 players in the squad and it is difficult to play in this great team."

"For the players who have not played in the last few matches it was good to play -- everyone is happy. It is one step forward."

Torres has yet to score a goal in four Premier League appearances this season. During the 2012-13 season he scored a total 27 goals in 76 appearances for both club and countries; he only scored eight times for Chelsea in the Premier League in 36 games. Since scoring 18 goals for Liverpool in 2009-10, Torres has not scored more than 10 goals in a Premier League season.
