Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf Wall Street" will be delayed until December.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio currently has a running time of 180 minutes and Scorsese is discussing how to cut the movie with his producer.
According to the source, Paramount is hoping the movie will be completed for December in time for Christmas, but there is no telling how long the editing process will take.
"The Wolf of Wall Street" was once seen as a major Oscar contender, especially for DiCaprio, who was seen as the front-runner to win the Best Actor Oscar. However, given the status of the film, its awards buzz could slowly die out.
The last time a DiCaprio-Scorsese collaboration was delayed was in 2009 when "Shutter Island" was not released until 2010. That film was also considered an Oscar contender in 2009, but since it was released in February and received mixed reviews, the movie was not nominated for a single award.
DiCaprio and Scorsese have already worked on several films, including "Shutter Island." They also made "The Departed," which won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2006, as well "The Aviator," which also won a number of Oscars. Their first collaboration came in 2002 with "Gangs of New York," which was nominated for 10 Oscars.
"The Wolf of Wall Street" tells the story of Jordan Belfort who rose to become wealthy stockbroker living the high life and later fell due to corruption. The movie also stars Matthew McConaughey, Kyle Chandler, Jon Favreau and Jonah Hill.
Paramount has not made an official statement about the delay, but with the rumors expanding it shouldn't be long until the company make some kind of announcement.
Red Granite fully financed and produced the drama, with Paramount handling the film domestically.
