Sunday's 65th Emmy Awards were full of surprises, from unexpected wins to special musical numbers. But some of the biggest surprises of the night were revealed on the red carpet.

The red carpet looks ranged from stunning to downright wacky, creating an awards fashion show that was anything but boring.

So who achieved sartorial perfection and who completely missed the mark? We rounded up our favorite looks of the night, and then revealed who should receive a hefty fine from the fashion police.

Hits:

1. Emilia Clarke in Donna Karan Atelier- "Game of Thrones" Mother of Dragons was fashion forward in a romantic, light blue georgette gown with a thin metallic belt.

2. Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang- The Colombian bombshell always knows what works for her stunning figure. Vergara wowed, yet again, in a lacy, fire-enginge red gown that showed off her famous curves.

3. Elisabeth Moss in Andre Gn- The "Mad Men" star looked incredibly chic in a black and white sequined gown and a modern, platinum blonde 'do.

4. Kaley Cuoco in Vera Wang- Kaley went for full-on drama with a billowing, corseted ball-gown in an appropriately autumnal oxblood shade.

5. Christina Hendricks in Christian Siriano- The voluptuous "Mad Men" star was dramatic perfection in a black form-fitted gown with lace capped sleeves.

6. Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Monique Lhuillier- The "Veep" Emmy-winner was glamorous in a simple yet interesting rose-gold strapless gown.

7. Mindy Kaling in Edition by Georges Chakra- The creator of "The Mindy Project" looked regal in a fitted, deep plum gown with a jeweled neckline and capped sleeves.

8. Amy Poehler in Basler- The hilarious comedienne was chic and understated in a black dress with gold dragon embellishments at the hips.

9. Kerry Washington in Marchesa- The "Scandal" star stunned in a romantic, pale pink gown with an empire waist and sweet embellished flowers.

10. Malin Akerman in Marchesa- Marchesa knocked two dresses out of the park last night. The "Trophy Wife" actress donned a soft, romantic, pale bluish/gray confection.

11. Tina Fey in Narcisco Rodriguez- The "30 Rock" comedienne showed off her fabulous curves in a form-fitting, cobalt blue halter gown.

12. Ariel Winter in Lorena Sarbu- The 15-year-old "Modern Family" actress looked sweet and age appropriate in a one-shoulder, light pink gown.

13. Anna Gunn in Romona Keveza- The "Breaking Bad" star was timeless and chic in a black and white, off-the-shoulder number.

14. Jewel in Tony Ward- The singer/songwriter exuded old Hollywood glamour with a modern twist in a pink and gold, embellished gown.

15. Aaron Paul in Burberry- The "Breaking Bad" star looked perfectly polished and classically handsome in a timeless tuxedo.

Misses:

16. Connie Britton in Naeem Khan- The "Nashville" actress looked like she took heavy drapery from a room in Versailles and turned it into a dress.

17. Lena Dunham in Prada- What is it with furniture-esque fabric being turned into gowns? Dunham looked like she was wearing a wacky, outdated bedspread.

18. Julianne Hough in Jenny Packham- The Emmys red carpet is not a ballroom dance floor. The dancer failed to learn that last night when donning a glittery, light green dress that looked beautiful from the torso up, and inappropriately see-through on the bottom.

19. Aubrey Plaza in Marios Schwab- The "Parks and Recreation" actress could have looked chic in a form-fitting, long-sleeved, black and tan lacy gown, but the multicolored flower embellishments on the neck and sleeves make it look like a high-school fashion project gone bad.

20. Zosia Mamet in Honor- The "Girls" actress' gown looked promising from the bottom, with a full skirt in a beautiful, fashion-foward watercolor print. But the gown ended up looking wrong due to an ill-placed piece of leather fabric put directly over the chest area.

21. Cat Deely in Amani- The "So You Think You Can Dance" host sported an unflattering, glittery black gown with odd cutouts.
