On Monday, Sept. 23, the Metropolitan Opera will inaugurate its 2013-14 season.

The season will open with Deborah Warner's acclaimed production of Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin" with Fiona Shaw directing. Superstar soprano Anna Netrebko will sing the role of Tatiana in her third consecutive opening night; she will become the first soprano in the history of the Met to achieve this feat. Mariusz Kwiecien will sing the title role, while Piotr Beczala will sing the role of Lenski.   

Highlights of the season will include Jonas Kaufmann making his Met role debut as Werther in Massenet's opera "Werther" alongside acclaimed mezzo soprano Sophie Koch in her Met debut. Richard Eyre will direct the new production.

Nico Muhly will premiere his opera "Two Boys" with Paul Groves and Alice Coote in the lead roles, while Valery Gergiev will conduct Shostakovich's "The Nose" with Paulo Szot.

Ildar Abdrzakov will star in a new production of Borodin's "Prince Igor," while Jeremy Sams will oversee the new production to Johann Strauss Jr.'s "Die Fledermaus." Robert Carsen will direct the new production of Verdi's "Falstaff" with world renowned Ambrogio Maestri and Angela Meade.

Other highlights include the revival of three Bellini operas and three Richard Strauss operas. Benjamin Britten's 100th anniversary will also be celebrated with the revival of "Midsummer Night's Dream" starring Kathleen Kim and Erin Wall.

The season will also feature the top singers in the industry including Rolando Villazon ("Eugene Onegin"), Renee Fleming ("Rusalka"), Diana Damrau ("La Sonnanbula"), Juan Diego Florez ("La Cenerentola"), Erwin Schrott ("L'Elisir d'Amore"), Joyce Didonato ("La Cenerentola"), Peter Mattei ("Eugene Onegin"), Kristine Opolais ("Madama Butterfly") and Sondra Radvanovsky ("Norma").

James Levine will also return to the podium conducting three works including Mozart's "Cosi Fan Tutte" and Berg's "Wozzeck."
