Next season of "Beauty and the Beast" may be even more ferocious that the last. A new photo for the upcoming season shows Vincent, a.k.a "the Beast," played by Jay Ryan, showing his savage side and angrily baring his teeth.
The new season will offer as much drama as the photo promises. Kristen Kreuk, who pays Catherine, and Ryan told Entertainment Weekly that the premiere picks up three months after Vince was abducted by Muirfield. Fans will see that Vincent has been visibly changed; he has no scar and his memory has been wiped clean. Most alarmingly, he has been transformed into a fiercely dangerous beast who is on a secret mission.
The season will open with Cat trying to find Vincent. Once he is found, it will be Cat's job to discover how and why Vincent was transformed, and to attempt to get him back to normal.
Fans will also find out that the man who captured Vincent is Cat's biological father, which Cat has yet to discover. Her father, Agent Reynolds (Ted Whittall) is seen saying, "I hope my daughter doesn't get in the way again."
The stars of the show spoke to TVLine about the upcoming season's focus. "This season's all about building a very rich mythology," Kreuk said. "So procedural is completely gone now."
This season will explore Vincent's character in depth. "For him, it's 'Is he a man, is he a beast?" Ryan said. "And [about] trying to reconnect with Catherine and get that love back in their relationship."
This season may also include something that fans of the new "Beauty and the Beast" as well as the original fairytale have never seen before: a female beast.
TVLine confirms that newcomer Amber Skye Noyes will be joining the cast of season two as potentially the first female beast. Noyes will play Tori, the daughter of a beast. Cat and Vincent will serve as Tori's mentors, and they will clue her in on some surprising revelations about her life.
"Beauty and the Beast" returns October 7 at 9 p.m. on the CW.
