Carlos Santana, one of the most internationally renowned Mexican musicians, suffered a car accident in Las Vegas, from which he came out unharmed.
According to first reports, the Mexican was headed home last Friday, Sept 13, when he crashed against another car which was parked close to a residential area in Summerlin, Las Vegas, informed Telemundo.
The 66-year-old Grammy winner was unharmed by the accident. Even though there was no official statement from the guitarist or his agents, it's speculated that the Mexican musician was driving under the influence of alcohol.
News network Radio Fórmula reported that police Lieutenant Ken Romane confirmed to newspaper Las Vegas Review-Journal that Santana was not driving drunk, although he did not reveal if he applied a breathalyzer test to the guitarist.
Carlos Santana won 15 Grammy awards and his album "Supernatural" sold over 25 million copies worldwide, which makes him one of the most successful Hispanic artists in recent times.
The Mexican guitarist was recognized this year as one of those awarded by the Kennedy Center for his contribution to the cultural life of the United States, informed newspaper La Opinión.
He is the third Hispanic artist, and the first Mexican, to receive the said award since it was instituted in 1978. The Jalisco-born guitarist will receive the award on December 7 in a ceremony presided by the President of the United States, Barack Obama, and his wife, Michelle, to be celebrated in the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
