John Logan and Barbara Broccoli have admitted that they want to shoot James Bond 24 in Ireland.
During an event at Institute of Directors to support the Irish film industry, writer Logan said that he is still writing the script and that many of the scenes take place in Ireland. He said he would be using his time in Ireland to "soak up the local color now that I'm here" with the idea of including the country as a location in the next film."
Logan added, "I'm fully Irish." The writer's parents come from Ireland and he is a second generation Irishman.
On Broccoli's part, the producer said that if Logan was to write in scenes in Ireland she would definitely shoot there. She stated, "we'll come here. Ireland is gorgeous. I'd love to come here and make a Bond film."
Broccoli and Logan both worked on the previous Bond movie "Skyfall." The 23rd installment became the most successful film in the franchise earning more than $1 billion worldwide. The film was also a critical success and was even nominated for five Academy Awards, winning two.
Logan is best known for his work on "The Aviator," "Gladiator" and "Hugo." Broccoli has previously produced "Once," "Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace."
James Bond 24 is currently in pre-production with Sam Mendes slated to direct and with Daniel Craig reprising title character James Bond. Ralph Fiennes and Ben Whishaw are rumored to return to the franchise but nothing has yet been confirmed. Sony is slated to release the film in November 2015.
