They're getting closer. You can hear their snarls and feel their breath on your skin. Pieces of shredded rags are strewn across the landscape. You look around, but nothing's there. But then, a mangled hand drops on your shoulder. Drool, blood, sludge, or whatever it is pours from a mouth of zagged teeth as it sinks deep into your neck. The zombies are back.
"The Walking Dead" returns next month, and aside from the high volume of zombies that promise to amp up the fear factor, a brand new teaser features even more brutality. From death to a terrifying new enemy, the video has it all.
The video features interview with the cast and executive producers as well as a hefty portion of never-before-seen footage. They talk love, new threats, new prison, a time jump and much more. Check it out below.
One of the many highlights includes Carol's brand new day school, the first lesson of which is Knife Fighting for Self Defense, a key skill for survival in such a treacherous landscape. With zombies constantly gnawing at your pink flesh, self defense is pivotal.
And to make matters worse, the zombies will be more deadly than ever before. The characters will face "some really intense, scary, very detail-oriented zombies," says creator Robert Kirkman. "More so than you've seen thus far."
But while the zombie fury may be what ropes viewer in, there's much more to it. "As far as changing their methods or behavior or evolving in any kind of major way, that's really just not the point of the show," Kirkman says. "The show is about these characters. And the zombies are present and they will always be a threat, but the show isn't really about these creatures evolving into something new."
"The Walking Dead" will return to AMC October 13.
