Pope Francis sent a letter to the mother of renowned Argentinian singer Gustavo Cerati, who has been in a deep coma since 2010, she revealed on a television show, Univisión reported.

The letter, which was released by Cerati's mother Lilian Clark, is dedicated to the former vocalist of Soda Stereo who has been in a coma for three years. According to Clark, the letter states that Pope Francis prays for Cerati's mother.

According to Univision, everything began when Gustavo Masó, one of the singer's best friends, sent a letter to Pope Francis asking him to pray for the singer's recovery, which prompted the pope to write a reply in late August.

Masó, who was also a work colleague of Clark's in the singer's tribute "Conexión Intrauterina," received the letter from Pope Francis, which was later shared with the press.

The letter reads:

"Mister Gustavo Masó, thank you for your letter. It helped me reconnect with Gustavo. Because habituation archives our life. And life goes on. Waits. Disappears and comes back again. The cruelest archivist is oblivion. Our Borges was right when he told us that one thing I didn't find. It is oblivion. Yes, from God. But among us, oblivion exists and is cruel. Thank you for blowing the breeze of a memory.

I ask you to tell Lilian that her testimony does me well, her bravery in waiting still and that I am with her. It's difficult to say something in the face of the sacred relationship between a mother and a son. But ask her to accept my silent prayer. I am at your disposition.

Please, pray for me. May Jesus bless you and the Holy Virgin keep you.

Cordially, Francis."

According to Clarín, the show "Thank you for coming, thank you for staying" paid homage to Cerati with the testimonials of musicians and friends. It was in the same show that the singer's mother read the moving letter via telephone.
