The main characters of The CW's "Beauty and the Beast" will be visited by old friends who will stir up some drama.

TVLine reported that Annie Ilonzeh has been cast as Beth, Cat's (Kristin Kreuk) old friend from high school. Beth is a determined, shrewd journalist who becomes an eyewitness to a terrifying assault, which later causes problems for Cat.

Blair Redford from "The Lying Games" was cast as Zach, Vincent's (Jay Ryan) friend from the army who ends up becoming a threatening rival. Both Ilonzeh and Redford recently appeared on ABC Family's "Switched at Birth."

Bryan Dechart of "Jane By Design" is also joining the show as Aaron Keller, a relative of Vincent's (Jay Ryan) who is a shrewd arson investigator known for his hotheadedness. Aaron comes from a firefighting family, and wants to continue his family's proud legacy. Dechart will debut in episode four of the new season.

This season will also answer many of the questions from season one. Executive producer Jennifer Levin told TV Guide at Comic-Con that Catherine will find out who her real father is.

Viewers will also discover more about Vincent's past. "Our theme for the year, if we have one, is: Who am I? That would apply for all of our characters," Levin said.

"A lot of his backstory is going to come through and a lot of that mythology of who Vincent is is going to come out. It's a lot to chew on for me," actor Jay Ryan said. "I'm excited for Vincent to have a community outside of the warehouse and just waiting for Catherine and JT to save him."

"We're going to see a more super-charged Vincent," Levin said. "This year we are going to see him be beastier."

"You're going to see a more precise beast in season two. His skills are more honed," Ryan added. "There's a lot of changes coming up for season two in terms of Vincent's character."

"Beauty and the Beast" returns to The CW on October 7.
