The body of Jesus Trejo, an 18-year-old from Homestead, Miami, was found in the morning of Thursday, September 5 in the Everglades.

According to Univisión, Trejo was reported as missing on Wednesday at 9 a.m., when he was last seen in his residence. Family members and authorities began a search that culminated on Thursday morning when his body was found near 232 Avenue and Ingraham Highway.

According to his sister, Jazmín Trejo, the 18-year-old woke up at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning, headed to a friend's house and then told her he was planning to meet an unidentified group of people, El Nuevo Herald reported.

"He was going with some Americans. We don't know if they were young, we don't know their age. We don't know why he went," his sister told El Nuevo Herald.

After several hours of search, police units found Trejo's blue Honda Civic in a remote area of the Everglades, between 392 Street and Southwest 232 Avenue in southern Miami. According to first reports reported by The Huffington Post, the body of the missing youth was found with a possible shot to the head and evidence of being attacked by a crocodile.

The HuffPost also reported that Angie Rodríguez, Trejo's aunt, told authorities that Jesus would meet with a "white boy" in the Everglades. "He came by in the morning and told me he had to go with a white boy," the woman said. "He never showed up again. He never went back home."

At the moment there is no additional evidence on the cause of death of the young man. However, local police has classified the case as homicide. Trejo, who was born in the United States to Mexican parents, recently graduated from the South Dade Educational Center and had plans to continue his studies in car mechanics.
