Josh Brolin has confirmed that he was considered to play the new Batman in Zack Snyder's new film "Batman vs. Superman"
The actor told the Huffington Post that his agents had spoken to the director about the possibility of playing the dark knight. He said, "We did. I didn't have conversations about it, but Zack, that was part of his idea. It just didn't turn out."
However, Brolin did say that he was happy for Ben Affleck: "It's OK. It is OK. You know, another scenario might have worked better, but I'm happy for Ben."
He also said that he did not understand the backlash over Affleck's casting. He stated, "I've never seen such a global reaction in my life. I feel for him, truly. I would not want to be him right now. The reaction becomes so personal. It's like, 'F*** this guy, I wish he was dead.' And you're like, 'What? Dude, seriously? This guy is just working like you are. He's doing the same thing you are. He's trying to make the best choices he can."
Brolin is currently promoting his new film "Labor Day" at the Toronto Film Festival. He recently starred in "Gangster Squad" and "Men in Black 3." He is known for his work "No Country for Old Men," "True Grit" and "W." He will next be seen in "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For."
"Batman vs. Superman" will be produced by Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder and will also star Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne. The film is currently in pre-production with Warner Bros. slated to release the movie on July 17, 2015.
