Throughout the summer months, production on “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” tore through New York’s cityscape. NYPD police chases shutdown downtown avenues in both New York City and Buffalo, stopping traffic and attracting superhero fans of all genres. Andrew Garfield, who plays Peter Parker in the “Amazing Spider-Man” series, even took the time out of his busy schedule to galavant through New York in full costume, stopping to chat with fans and even play a little pick up basketball. But now that the summer is over, fans are no longer swooned by the exciting production antics. They want more. They want to know that the movie’s coming along. Something tangible, like a trailer perhaps, would soothe their itch. Well that’s exactly what they’re going to get. In due time.
The trailer for “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” will be attached to prints of the upcoming November issue release of “Thor: The Dark World” and “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” Brainztown, who reportedly works on music for the film and its trailer, recently tweeted, “[the trailer] will be played against the showing of Thor and Hunger Games this year and the front of next year with May 2014 release.”
With the anticipation of a trailer buzzing in the autumn air, fans can also catch an inside look into one the Spider-Man’s adversaries, Rhino, played by Paul Giamatti. In a recent interview with The Toronto Sun, Giamatti talked about his character and how he differs from the classic Rhino introduced in the comic books.
“In the comic books of old, he had this suit on that made him look like a rhinoceros, and it made him super strong,” Giamatti said. "If there was a bank vault he would just run right through it, butt through it with his head. And he was not very smart.”
“I have a particular kind of suit, but I don’t think I’m supposed to talk about it,” he added. “He’s a Russian mobster. Russians are always good villains. I have an ability to just destroy things. My accent is pretty hammy. I loved doing it. It seemed to me like an opportunity to be as over-the-top hammy as possible. It was really fun.”
“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” will hit theaters May 2, 2014.
