Benedict Cumberbatch has denied the rumors of his involvement in the new "Star Wars Episode VII."
According to Moviefone, during the press conference for his new movie "The Fifth Estate," Cumberbatch said he had never been offered a role in "Star Wars." He stated, "No offer. It's all rumor and it's all gossip. No one's been offered other than the people we know who've been offered. Would I like to do it? I've said many times before ... I've worked with J.J. before, and he knows where I live."
The actor is currently in Toronto promoting his three films at the International Film Festival. "The Fifth Estate" opened the festival and his other movies "12 Years a Slave," and "August: Osage County" are slated to premiere at the event.
Cumberbatch was last seen in "Star Trek: Into Darkness" as well as "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" and "War Horse." He has also appeared in "Atonement," "Third Star," "Four Lions" and "The Whistleblower." He is slated to appear in "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug."
"Star Wars Episode VII" is currently in the casting process with Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher rumored to return to their original roles. Additionally, Anthony Daniels, Ewan McGregor and Ian McDiarmid are also rumored to appear in the film.
The new movie will be directed by J.J Abrams, and produced by Kathleen Kennedy. John Williams will write the score to the movie, while Michael Ardnt will pen the script. "Episode VII" is slated to begin production in January in the U.K. with Disney releasing the film in 2015.
