The Hispanic Heritage Foundation will award Mexican singer and actress Lucero with the prestigious Vision Award, during the 26th broadcast of the Hispanic Heritage Awards, for her contributions and achievements in the Latino community in the United States.
According to People en Español magazine, the delivery of the distinguished award will take place in the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. on September 15. Network Mundo Fox will broadcast the award ceremony on television.
"I'm very happy because the Foundation is going to give me their award. The acknowledgement I like the most is the applause of my fans, their affections and the trust I have with the public," said the singer.
The Vision Award given this year acknowledges the humanitarian contributions of the Mexican artist to children through the charity foundation "Teletón México." Lucero has been the host of the Teletón for over 15 years, and she has collaborated as official ambassador for the organization in various occasions, reported Diario NY.
On the other hand, Mexican actor Diego Luna and Los Tigres del Norte were also given awards in the Hispanic Heritage Awards with the Inspira Award and the Legend Award respectively.
"I want to dedicate this award to all of those interested in this country recognizing and welcoming all the undocumented immigrants that have built this country with their labor, have fed its people and have attended the most basic needs of this nation. I also dedicate it to those who believe in building bridges and friendship between Latin America and the United States, instead of walls and borders," said Luna when accepting his award, reported Sin Embargo.
