France will look to salvage its World Cup 2014 qualification when it takes on Georgia on Friday.
France once had complete control over its own destiny but managed to ruin all hopes of winning Group I when it faced off against Spain last March. The team could have managed control over the group with a draw against La Roja, but instead lost 1-0 at home and found itself needing to win its final two games and seeing Spain somehow lose points along the way.
Manager Didier Deschamps recently announced his lineup and made a controversial choice in leaving out Yohan Cabaye. The manager defended his decision and noted the Cabaye's choices with his club Newcastle United affected his decision.
"Yohan Cabaye has not been playing football recently. He is not playing so I did not pick him," Deschamps said, according to Sports Mole. "The players are free to make any career choices, but that could have consequences on the national team...We have to win [against Georgia]. We have to get ourselves in tournament mode and not think that we're superior and that we'll win."
Another player omitted was Jeremy Toulalan.
"He is still very affected by what happened [in South Africa], perhaps too affected. It's up to me to take the decision," Deschamps said, according to Courier Islander. "I spoke to him several times, but I won't go into details about our conversations."
Prediction: France pulls off a 2-0 win.
