Spain will look to inch one step closer to qualifying for the 2014 World Cup when it takes on Finland in its latest qualifier on Friday.
La Roja currently sits one point head of France in Group I and controls its own destiny. If the team manages to win the remaining two qualifiers, then it will automatically qualify. Anything less than two wins could potentially mean a playoff round or even elimination for La Roja. Spain has 11 points, France has 10, and Finland is within striking distance with six points.
"What worries me most is the match against Finland," Spain manager Vicente Del Bosque said Aug. 30. "We are playing for three very important points and the way we will have to play will be decisive so I have chosen the most adequate players."
Here is how del Bosque's squad breaks down:
Roja Goalkeepers: Iker Casillas (Real Madrid), Victor Valdes (Barcelona), Pepe Reina (Napoli/ITA)
Defenders: Alvaro Arbeloa, Sergio Ramos (both Real Madrid), Raul Albiol (Napoli/ITA), Jordi Alba, Gerard Pique (both Barcelona), Inigo Martinez (Real Sociedad), Nacho Monreal (Arsenal/ENG)
Midfielders: Sergio Busquets, Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas (all Barcelona), Santi Cazorla (Arsenal/ENG), Mario Suarez, Koke (both Atletico Madrid), Isco (Real Madrid), David Silva (Manchester City/ENG)
Forwards: Jesus Navas, Alvaro Negredo (both Manchester City/ENG), Roberto Soldado (Tottenham Hotspur/ENG), Pedro (Barcelona), David Villa (Atletico Madrid)
Notable absenses from the squad include goalie David De Gea of Manchester United as well as Fernando Torres and Juan Mata (both from Chelsea).
Prediction: Spain wins 2-0.
