Bosnia and Herzegovina will look to eliminate Slovakia from its first place bid in Group G when the two nations face off in the World Cup qualifiers on Friday.
The top team in each group moves on to the World Cup finals next summer while the second place side must endure a two-legged playoff. Bosnia and Herzegovina currently sits atop Group G with 16 points while Slovakia sits in third with nine points. If Bosnia and Herzegovina pulls off a win, then the team would have 19 points and Slovakia would remain with 9; with only three games remaining, Slovakia would only be able to obtain nine more points. If the countries draw, then Bosnia and Herzegovina would have 17 points and Slovakia would have 10.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is also looking to stave off a Greek side that has 13 points in the group and has been heavily favored to come out on top. A Greek victory on Friday coupled with a Slovakian loss to Bosnia and Herzegovina would push the Slovakian side seven points behind second place with three games to go.
Bosnia and Herzegovina has pulled off five wins and one draw in six qualifiers; the team has scored 23 goals and allowed only three in that span. Edin Dzeko has scored eight of the goals.
Meanwhile, Slovakia has scored seven goals in six games; the team has accumulated two wins and three draws thus far.
Prediction: Bosnia and Herzegovina is the runaway favorite in this one and should pull off a 2-0 win.
