Moby's new album is almost ready and will be released in early October. While they wait, fans of the American singer can listen to his new single, "The Perfect Life," and watch his video, which has caused quite the stir.
Last month, Moby posted a picture of the music video shoot, which featured The Flaming Lips vocalist Wayne Coyne. The fun image showed Coyne and Moby disguised as mariachis, playing the accordion and the guitar, along with a hilarious gallery of extras.
According to Rolling Stone magazine, after a curious casting through Facebook, in which the musician requested "ghosts on rollerskates," "gothic chorus members" and "fat, bearded cyclists," the awaited video for "The Perfect Life" arrived with great enthusiasm from fans and critics.
"Wayne and I met for the first time in 1995," Moby told the renowned music magazine, "when The Flaming Lips and I opened for the European Tour of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. We became friends, shared dressing rooms and watched the Chilli Peppers from the side of the stage."
The decision to make a duet with vocalist Wayne Coyne is not so strange after all. The Flaming Lips have distinguished themselves by being an extremely happy band, with lots of energy in their concerts, exactly what Moby was trying to do in "The Perfect Life."
The new single belongs to Moby's eleventh studio album, Innocents, which will be released in early October. Innocents is the first album in which Moby has worked with an outside producer, Mike "Spike" Stent, known for his work with Madonna, U2 and Massive Attack.
