Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic are in action Thursday with the two last U.S. Open semifinals spots up for grabs.
Murray, the defending U.S. Open champion, faces Russia's Stanislas Wawrinka in the second afternoon game at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Murray, the third seed in the tournament, realizes that Wawrinka - who eliminated fifth seed Tomas Berdych 3-6 6-1 7-6 (8-6) 6-2 - is playing the best tennis of his career.
"I don't know if he's working harder," said Murray. "He made a coaching change around the clay-court season, which may have helped him because he was without a coach for quite a while. That could have helped him a bit."
Djokovic - the top seed in the tournament and 2011 U.S. Open champ - headlines the night session, taking on Mikhail Youzhny of Russia. Djokovic made quick work Marcel Granollers in 79 minutes to advance to his 18th consecutive Grand Slam quarterfinal - beating him 6-3, 6-0, 6-0. Djokovic believes that he is peaking at the right time.
"It all comes at a great time for me," said Djokovic. "It was something I was wishing to be more aggressive as the tournament progresses and to be able to stay committed to play every point, to win every point, regardless of the score."
