Hans Zimmer may compose the score to "Batman vs. Superman."
During the premiere of Ron Howard's "Rush," the composer said that he was surprised that Warner Bros. was doing a Batman movie so quickly and that he would have to think about the music really hard. He explained, "This is really complicated for me. We all went, 'Okay, we're done with Batman' and now it's sort of getting smuggled back in. I have to have a think about that one. I might give you a new Batman if I do it."
When asked what he thought about Ben Affleck as Batman, Zimmer was complimentary. "I actually think it's a really good choice because number one, he's a great filmmaker, he's smart - he wouldn't have taken it if he [was] setting himself up for a fall. He's a bit older these days and that's what we need. And he's got a good chin," said Zimmer.
Zimmer wrote the score to the last three Batman movies and also worked on the music for "Man of Steel." The composer is best known for his work on "The Lion King," "Inception," "Gladiator" and "Pirates of the Caribbean." He recently completed work on score for "12 Years a Slave," "Rush" and "Mr. Morgans First Love." Zimmer will next compose the music to "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," "Interstellar" and "Winter's Tale."
"Batman vs Superman" is currently in pre-production with Zack Snyder directing and David Goyer writing the film. The movie also stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne. "Batman vs. Superman" is slated to start shooting in January in Michigan with Warner Bros. releasing the film on July 17, 2015.
