Henrik Stenson captured the Deutsche Bank Championship, marking his tournament victory since the Players Championship in 2009.
Stenson - a runner up in the British Open and World Gold Championship, and tied for third at the PGA Championship - managed to catch up to Day 3 leader Sergio Garcia and held off Steve Strickler. Stenson finished 5-under 66 and tied a tournament record 22-under 262 at the TPC Boston.
"I'm just pleased I won here," said Stenson. "This was a big goal of mine to win a golf tournament after all those nice finishes. My family is here. I'm going to see my kids in a little bit. It's all good."
With the victory, Stenson moves to the top of the FedEx Cup standings, assuring him his first Tour Championship appearance and a chance to win the $10 million prize.
Tiger Woods struggled the entire weekend, starting 13 shots off the lead going into the final round, bogeying three of his first six holes to finish the day 2-over 73. Woods ended the day tied for 65th place and 18 shots behind Stenson. Sunday's performance matches his worst tournament finish since he finished tied for 65th in June at the Memorial.
"It wasn't my week," said Woods. "I didn't play well and didn't make anything, so consequently I wasn't close to the lead. I just didn't putt well. I didn't have a feel for my lines. My lines were just off."
Despite his bad finish at the Deutsche Championship, Woods is in good position to win the FedEx Cup playoffs heading into the BMW Championship two weeks away at Conway Farms in Illinois.
"We're just trying to play for position, going into East Lake," said Woods. "After Chicago it's important that I'm in the top five, hopefully first."
