Morgan Freeman is the latest actor to comment on Ben Affleck being cast as Batman in "Batman vs. Superman."
"The Dark Knight" star told USA today that he was surprised by the casting news. "This is the first I am hearing of it. My first reactions are 'Wow' and 'Good luck,'" said Freeman.
When asked what he thought about Affleck taking on the superhero role, he said he thought Warner Bros. would have waited a few more years before rebooting the series. He stated, "After the trilogy, I thought that no one would try it again for a few years more to let this whole thing die down. Because it's still there. So I don't know, I hope Ben does well."
When asked if he would reprise his character Lucius Fox from "The Dark Knight" trilogy, Freeman said no. "If the new movie does have a Lucius Fox I don't think it's going to be me. It doesn't seem to work to mix characters in the movies. If you are going to change the lead character, you're probably going to change all the characters," said Freeman.
Freeman was last seen in "Oblivion," and "Olympus has Fallen." He also starred in "Now You See Me," "The Magic of Belle Isle," "Dolphin Tale," "Born to Be Wild," and "Red." He will next be seen in "Transcendance," and "Last Vegas."
"Batman vs Superman" is currently in pre-production with Zack Snyder directing and David Goyer writing the film. The movie also stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne. "Batman vs. Superman" is slated to start shooting in January in Michigan with Warner Bros. releasing the film on July 17, 2015.
